Are you an avid runner who likes adventures? The Wine Run is a unique 10k race in Europe, held at a depth of 100 m through the underground wine cellar of the Mileștii Mici. In 2020 the competition will take place on February 9. All amateur and professional athletes are welcome to participate by registering online.

Do you know the legend of Martisor? Martisor is the celebration of the arrival of spring and the name of a red and white tassel pin worn on the chest from March 1 to 31. Moldova’s Martisor Festival is an attraction for those who want to discover the rich culture and talented artists of Moldova. Throughout March, music and dance ensembles from Moldova and abroad transform the Nicolae Sulac palace stage displaying the traditional and joyous greetings for the coming of spring. For more than 50 years, the Martisor Festival has paid homage to this romantic tradition through music and dance.

Do you know the most precious dowry of a Moldovan bride? A hand-woven carpet! The village of Clişova Nouă in Orhei is considered by some to be a small capital of Bessarabian rugs. Here you can find the Carpet Museum, which features Moldova’s preserved carpet-making tradition and where craftsmen can show you how carpets are woven. Those looking for a dowry, will be able to admire and purchase authentic carpets. The art of carpet-weaving uses traditional equipment (razboi) is endangered in Moldova, but the Bessarabian Carpet Festival aims to preserve this tradition.

The festival takes Opera from its traditional setting and transports it into the midst of nature. Moldovans celebrate Folkloric Clothing Day, paying homage to authentic costumes representing Romanian folklore and other national ethnicities. Founded in 2013, the festival promotes traditional hand-embroidered blouses and supports the craftsmen who carefully preserve this tradition. The event is organized on the banks of the Nistru River and gathers artisans who display handmade objects, chefs who cook traditional recipes, musicians and dancers all in the Holercani village stadium. The festival hosts the Mandria, Pride, contest for young designers who present fashion collections inspired by local traditions. A mural art contest, Cai verzi pe pereti, and the Podul de flori conference celebrate folklore inspired traditions.

Vasilii Gonceari inherited the craft from his ancestors and after spending time abroad, he returned home to continue the family business. Upon coming back to Moldova, Gonceari established Vatra Olarului, The International Pottery Fair, where visitors can buy pots, souvenirs and household objects. Dozens of craftsmen gather in the courtyard of the potter's home, displaying pride in their work. Kids can try the potter's craft during hands-on workshops. Traditional gastronomy, folklore and dancing all come together in the unparalleled atmosphere of the fair.
